"Onguard enables Perrigo Spain to implement efficient and accurate credit management processes"

Perrigo Spain is a supplier of over-the-counter (OTC) healthcare products, belonging to the International Consumer Self-care division. They are a world leader in the supply of healthcare products and is one of the largest manufacturers of OTC healthcare products.

The challenge

In recent years, it had become clear that Perrigo Spain’s credit control processes and ERP system were preventing its local credit controllers to get a grip on pre-orders and outstanding invoices. Using a combination of an ERP system and Excel spreadsheets meant that the credit control team was undergoing all processes manually, including identifying overdue invoices and sending invoices.

With this in mind, due to its user-friendly interface, and easy to use and understand nature, Perrigo Spain chose to implement Onguard's CreditManager.

Using CreditManager has allowed Perrigo Spain to drastically reduce the amount of manual work performed by its credit control team, freeing up their time to be used elsewhere. It has also made processes such as invoicing faster, increased efficiencies and improved accuracy.

According to González, “CreditManager has improved the performance of our team as we are able to automate more of our credit management process. Consequently, we are free to focus on more value-adding tasks and our bigger accounts. We can also more easily find information and gain insights from this, meaning we have a more accurate and updated view of unpaid invoices, for instance. We’re also now able to automatically register disputes and settlements which was extremely time consuming when undertaken manually.”

With more efficient invoicing processes in place, Perrigo Spain is able to improve cash flow.

Adoption in Italy

Subsequent to seeing the results CreditManager has offered Perrigo Spain, Perrigo Italy also decided to implement the solution. As such, the Onguard team helped to roll out the solution within the Italian division of the company.

In order to help the separate Perrigo entities to adhere to the differing regulations within their markets, Onguard built custom reports and workflows within CreditManager. As a result, both countries’ credit management teams have access to the same landing page but with different workflows which have been adapted to their needs and separate administration accounts. Since the implementation of CreditManager, the centralised system has also provided administrative staff in Italy with access to reports and insights into the financials for the other countries within company.

The custom features help Perrigo Italy’s credit management team to comply with strict laws relating to invoicing, by allowing invoices to be exported from CreditManager to a third-party verified agent. From here, the invoice is sent via a notified email to the customer. This ability to link CreditManager with third-party systems gives Perrigo more freedom and ensures it is able to make credit control as efficient as possible and comply with local laws.
